Bibliography

So if you want to read something not only by, but about Christopher Marlowe, you are sure to find what you are looking for in the more than 2,000 entries. The right-hand column is devoted exclusively to the bibliography. The search field can be used to search all bibliographic data, be it author, publisher, journal, ISBN, etc. This edition as well as the search results are always sorted by the name of the author or publisher in descending order. The entries are not tagged. (I don’t have the time or the inclination for that and, frankly, I haven’t read all 2,300 titles). As far as possible, I have assigned them to subjects. They are also categorised according to the type of literature (treatise, collected edition, article, etc.).

I try to keep the bibliography as comprehensive and up-to-date as possible, considering only works that deal directly with Marlowe. General presentations of Elizabethan theatre, lexical entries, etc. are therefore not included. Publications lacking a scientific basis were deliberately neglected. The (hopefully never written) treatise How Christopher Marlowe Exposed the Moon Landing Conspiracy would be one of them. Not included are term papers, seminar papers, etc., which are offered for download on various platforms. For Christopher Marlowe as a character in fictional literature, there is a separate page therefore, these works are also not included.

Most of the titles are in English. Publications in German, Italian and French were also taken into account, because these are the languages in which I am reasonably comfortable. Especially with works from the Asian region, I unfortunately had to capitulate due to my linguistic ignorance.

With the amount of data, errors and omissions are almost inevitable, so I am grateful for any hints.
